Welcome to SJ-HAA Cheerleading! Below is some information regarding our program for 2024-2025 season. Please review the information contained in this document prior to the first practice. A mandatory Parents Meeting will is scheduled for August 27, 2024 to review this information, and to answer any questions you may have regarding our program.

Who is eligible for SJ-HAA Cheerleading? Our cheerleading program is open to all girls in Grades K-8; however, teams will be divided according to grade/skill level entering the 2023-2024 school year and will include the following:
FOOTBALL ONLY (non-competitive)*: grades kindergarten through eighth
Junior Varsity "E" (JVE) (Elementary level competitive): grades Kindergarten through fifth
Varsity (competitive): grades *fourth through eighth
Rec (competitive): grades *fifth through Twelfth
*for the 2024-2025 season, JVE, Varsity will be competing in a minimum 3 events. All Competition members are expected to cheer in a minimum 5 football games and all championships.
Practice times? Fall Practices are 2 times a week
JV: Tuesday & Wednesday 6:00pm-7:30pm *UPDATED
V: Tuesdays & Wednesday 7pm-9pm
Competition practices begins October 2024: Saturday 8am-10am
Where are practices held? Holy Angels School Gymnasium, Athletics Building or Field
What should my child wear/bring to practice? Team shirt, shorts or leggings, well-fitting sneakers, and hair must be pulled back and away from the face. All athletes must have a refillable bottle of water.
When are games held, and how long do they last? Football games are Sunday afternoons 12 - 2 pm. Please refer to your Welcome Package (to be distributed in September) for more information or reach out to Coach Deborah Roy - schedule is not available, at this time.
GAME UNIFORMS: game-day SHIRT and (Warm weather) solid black shorts, (cold weather) solid black leggings (no tights or sweats) white ankle socks, game bow and white cheer sneakers will be distributed at the before the 1st game. Please ensure your cheerleader attends.
PRACTICE UNIFORM will be distributed as soon as they arrive and must be worn during EVERY practice, The practice uniform will also include a practice bow.
COMPETITION UNIFORMS: Uniform fittings will be in October and distributed in November. A $100 security deposit will be due in order to receive the uniform. All checks will be written to "SJ-HAA". Every cheerleader will need a deposit check, even if multiple cheerleaders are from the same family. NO CHECKS ARE DEPOSITED UNTIL AFTER THE UNIFORM COLLECTION AT THE END OF THE SEASON. cropped bodysuit, bloomers, and socks will be distributed with the game-day uniform
SNEAKERS: Solid white sneakers must be worn at all games / events and can be purchased from OMNICHEER.COM (Chasse Ace II Cheer Shoe, $31.00); *Chasse Ace II Cheer Shoe is required for all competition team members no matter the division.
BOWS: Game-day bows will be distributed on or before the 1st game and must be worn at all games/functions/events when the game-day uniform is required. Practice bows will be distributed with the practice uniform. October "Breast Cancer" bows will be distributed on or before the first October football game.
Volunteer discount commitment opportunity : There are several events where your volunteer commitment can be satisfied. One is during Fall Family Sports night September 9th, or gear sales during football games.
Cheerleading is a year-round activity. If your child will be participating in additional activities throughout the year, please let me know. We will make accommodations as needed to support all student athletes. All cheerleaders are expected to cheer in support of the SJ-HAA JV and Varsity football teams. Typically, cheerleading competitions take place between the months of January through March. All competition dates will be provided a the mandatory parent meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
